The Imagine Institute is a cutting-edge research structure located within Necker Children's Hospital in Paris, France. Our research labs focus on understanding the molecular mechanisms of genetic diseases affecting various systems, including the immune system, skeletal dysplasia, nervous system, stem cell differentiation, kidney physiology, and metabolism.
Research FocusWe are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our team in the Imagine-Institut Pasteur Unit of Heart Morphogenesis. The successful candidate will contribute to our research on asymmetric heart morphogenesis, exploring the molecular mechanisms underlying left-right patterning and its impact on congenital heart defects.
Our research aims to elucidate the basic mechanisms of asymmetric heart morphogenesis, uncover novel genetic players, and explore the relationship between this process and congenital heart defects in patients. We employ mouse models to investigate the molecular cascade breaking bilateral symmetry and how asymmetry is sensed by organ-specific precursor cells to control organogenesis.
Research EnvironmentThe postdoctoral position is funded for 3 years by the French Medical Research Foundation (FRM) and is open immediately. Our lab is located at the Institut Imagine, within the hospital Necker-Enfant Malades, and is part of the Department of Developmental and Stem Cell Biology of the Institut Pasteur. This provides a vibrant multidisciplinary and international research environment with state-of-the-art technological platforms, located in downtown Paris.
RequirementsWe are looking for a candidate with a strong background in life sciences, a solid research experience in molecular biology or genetics, and a strong interest in developmental biology. The ideal candidate will have experience working with animal models and a proven track record of working rigorously and creatively in a team environment.
