Job Description:
We are seeking a highly qualified Professor of Creative Expression and Digital Scholarship to join our Department of Comparative Literature and English at The American University of Paris. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching in the English Writing program, focusing on the intersection of creative expression and digital scholarship. They will also contribute to the development of courses that explore the relationship between humans and technology, including performance, film, and game scripts, fiction writing, digital humanities, disability studies, and critical theory.
The ideal candidate will have a terminal degree in a relevant discipline (MFA or PhD) and a proven track record of high-quality publication and excellent teaching, including a focus on teaching writing. They should also demonstrate evidence of successful digital humanities pedagogy or research and be able to speak and write in fluent English. Fluency in French is not required, but knowledge of at least two languages and experience in multi-lingual environments are strongly preferred.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching four to five courses per year in the English Writing program, developing a curriculum that emphasizes critical analysis and expository writing. They will also contribute to the Comparative Literature or Creative Writing major, and Linguistics, Theater and Performance, and Critical Theory minors. Additionally, they will maintain an ongoing record of high-quality publication, participate in faculty governance, and work collaboratively with the university community.
We are particularly interested in candidates who can contribute to the teaching and study of linguistics at AUP and those who have a focus on non-Western languages, cultures, and literatures or Slavic languages, cultures, and literatures.
