Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a Casualty Risk Underwriter to enhance our team.
This role is ideal for a seasoned Casualty Underwriter with at least 5 years of experience, eager to broaden their responsibilities and deepen their underwriting expertise while developing a profitable book of business. We are looking for a dedicated, team-oriented individual who is passionate about their work and consistently strives for excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately assess, select, and price casualty risks.
- Demonstrate strong technical underwriting skills and a comprehensive understanding of rating tools, collaborating with actuaries as necessary.
- Underwrite and expand a profitable portfolio in alignment with established underwriting guidelines.
- Engage proactively with brokers and clients to maintain and strengthen relationships.
- Identify and cultivate new business opportunities while managing renewal retention to achieve financial objectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business development and execution.
- Contribute as a team player, taking on additional tasks and projects that align with BHSI's overall goals.
- Assist management in formulating strategies to drive profitable outcomes in accordance with departmental objectives.
- Participate in market product and pricing benchmarking, providing feedback for product enhancements.
- Promote BHSI's culture and values, maintaining our esteemed reputation in the industry.
Qualifications and Skills:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in casualty underwriting.
- Strong underwriting acumen and expertise.
- In-depth knowledge of policy forms, including broker manuscripts.
- Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills, with a proven track record in sales, marketing, and relationship management.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic and rapidly evolving environment.
- Proficient in managing workload effectively, particularly during peak periods.
- A Law Degree or equivalent technical education, along with strong insurance qualifications.
