Amazon Data Services France SAS is seeking a dedicated Cybersecurity Engineer to enhance and expand our security framework while addressing security challenges across the globe's leading cloud service provider.

As a Security Automation Engineer, you will be instrumental in fostering operational excellence across our initiatives. This encompasses the development of efficient processes, procedures, and automation to enhance our daily operations and project execution. You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to ensure their requirements and concerns are effectively managed.

Research and Development

As a member of our team, you will participate in an on-call rotation to provide essential support for the Security Operations team. Your role will also involve conducting research to bolster our security posture and improve operational efficiency through data analysis and metrics.

Incident Management

You will play a crucial role in refining incident and change management practices within the security domain. Your responsibilities will include spearheading initiatives aimed at enhancing existing tools and processes, as well as providing insights on new methodologies to keep pace with the rapid growth of our platform and clientele.

Operational Metrics

In your capacity as a Security Operational Research Engineer, you will be tasked with ensuring quality in the metrics we report, guiding our focus towards areas that yield the highest return on investment. This will involve measuring our project timelines, challenges, and cycle durations.

On-Call Duties

This role entails on-call responsibilities. We strive to minimize nighttime and weekend alerts by ensuring our systems are resilient. When alerts do occur, we collaborate to identify and resolve the root causes to prevent recurrence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as an experienced engineer, engaging independently with product and system owners to innovate and enhance security operations.
  • Contribute to the strategic direction of your team, collaborating effectively with customers and stakeholders to establish a roadmap and deliver engineering solutions.
  • Make informed short-term and long-term decisions, defining clear objectives and prioritizing projects accordingly.
  • Proactively identify risks, communicating them to your manager and stakeholders with mitigation strategies before they escalate.
  • Effectively convey ideas both verbally and in writing to diverse audiences, including drafting narratives and strategic documentation.
  • Collaborate successfully with customers, leaders, and other engineering teams.
  • Establish metrics to evaluate customer experience, solution quality, and operational excellence.
  • Ensure customer engagement mechanisms are in place, adhering to service level agreements and managing operations effectively.
A Day in the Life
  • Review and assess new and ongoing security mitigations, analyzing proposed paths and making necessary adjustments.
  • Align immediate requirements with long-term goals, consistently measuring the impact of innovations and proposing creative solutions.
  • Identify gaps by continuously challenging established norms, recognizing that even minor innovations can lead to significant operational improvements for customers.
