Key Responsibilities

Saint-Gobain Abrasives R&D team is seeking a highly motivated Research Engineer to lead product development projects in the area of Coated Abrasives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in a scientific discipline and proven project management experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead product development projects in the area of Coated Abrasives to support business growth
  • Collaborate well cross-functionally to define and validate business cases and technical approaches to meet project objectives
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Clearly define the associated tasks and milestones for each project under his/her supervision, proposes technical approaches, cost estimates, and timelines
  • Solve complex technical problems by combining literature search, scientific knowledge, hands-on experiments, and plant trials
  • Collaborate with plant managers and production managers to industrialize new products and support process improvements
  • Utilize broad technical background and experience to develop and/or improve products, processes, and performance and/or reduce costs within a major product area
  • Stay aware of new technology applications and competitive uses of same in work with materials, products, and processes
  • Ensure that intellectual property is captured and protected through proper procedures as well as generates new IP through innovation
  • Maintain awareness of competitive IP positioning and understand strategic relevance
  • Collaborate with global team on new developments and new technologies
  • Identify, evaluate, and integrate novel analysis techniques
  • Specify and implement new equipment and capabilities

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a PhD degree in a scientific discipline from an accredited college/university or an MSc and 3+ years of experience (preferably in an industrial setting). Proven project management experience and an inquiring mind are essential. The candidate should also have excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate with all levels of management, customers, colleagues, and external partners.

This position is based in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine's plant; Ile de France. Home Office possibilities, 60% time spent on site minimum.
