We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Data Engineer to lead the design, development, and implementation of an AWS-based data platform at Immowelt Hamburg GmbH. This is a unique opportunity to join one of the leading PropTech platforms in Europe and help elevate our AVIV brand.

As a Principal Data Engineer, you will be responsible for defining how different departments across AVIV access and process data, helping drive their data maturity and enabling them to use data to create value.

Salary

The estimated salary for this position is around 120,000 EUR per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

Job Description

You will play a crucial role in shaping the organisation's data strategy, ensuring scalability, reliability, and efficiency in managing and processing data. Key responsibilities include:

  • Architecting, designing, and guiding the implementation of the AWS-based data platform
  • Spearheading the adoption and implementation of decentralised data ownership principles
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to determine business needs and drive the evolution of federated data products
  • Continuously evaluating and integrating new AWS features and services to enhance the platform's capabilities
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A deep understanding of AWS services and data architecture best practices
  • Experience with data engineering tools and technologies, such as Kafka, Hadoop, and Spark
  • Strong experience with data modelling, federation, and governance, including establishing data contracts, introducing quality checks, handling PII data, and complying with GDPR
  • Proven track record building data platforms and products in AWS environments
  • Strong business acumen and product-oriented mindset
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills with the ability to work across teams and departments

Location
