About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Laboratory Technician to join our team at UCLy. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting teaching projects within the biology field by implementing protocols, preparing laboratories, and managing essential lab operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute established biological protocols to facilitate teaching initiatives.
- Set up and prepare teaching laboratories according to specific requirements.
- Prepare reagents and materials for student use, ensuring accuracy and safety.
- Cultivate and maintain biological samples in accordance with established procedures.
- Adhere to strict hygiene, safety, quality, and laboratory best practices.
- Provide guidance and assistance to students and instructors during laboratory procedures.
- Manage the inventory of lab supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels and timely ordering.
- Coordinate maintenance and repairs for laboratory equipment, ensuring optimal functionality.
- Oversee the proper disposal of biological waste in compliance with regulations.
Qualifications and Skills
- Possess a strong foundation in bacteriology, biochemistry, chemistry, molecular biology, and cellular biology.
- Demonstrate familiarity with quality standards and laboratory best practices.
- Understand and adhere to safety regulations and risk management principles.
- Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with colleagues and students.
- Proficient in using office software and computer tools.
Education
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field is required, along with practical laboratory experience.
