Airbus Operations SAS is seeking a talented individual for the position of Avionics Network Systems Designer (f/m) within our Avionics Products Development division.

This role is situated in the vibrant Toulouse, France office, where you will collaborate with a dedicated team of approximately 15 professionals specializing in the Avionics & Simulation Domain. This domain serves as both an internal supplier of avionics equipment and a center of expertise.

The current focus involves the creation of innovative computing solutions aligned with product line strategies, utilizing both hardware and software components. This position also entails the support of existing avionics products while paving the way for future advancements in avionics technology.

Key Responsibilities:

In this dynamic environment, your contributions will be crucial in the following areas:

  1. Defining and selecting network configurations at the system level;
  2. Developing and implementing new system communication protocols and messaging frameworks that align with network specifications;
  3. Supporting legacy communication systems;
  4. Collaborating closely with system designers from the Design Office to refine network configurations;
  5. Engaging with academic partners to validate network performance and resilience;
  6. Ensuring the determinism of new communication protocols, primarily based on AFDX and Ethernet technologies, through the following activities:
  7. Formulating strategies and plans involving both internal and external stakeholders to validate determinism;
  8. Establishing messaging principles for functions utilizing new communication protocols;
  9. Monitoring the maturity of these protocols throughout development and contributing to related verification and validation activities;
  10. Participating in safety analyses and certification demonstrations;
  11. Actively contributing to the roadmap for new communication protocols;
  12. Auditing technical solutions as requested by the Design Office;
  13. For legacy communication systems, including Ethernet, A429, RS485, CAN, and MIL-STD-1553, your objectives will include:
  14. Monitoring the operational performance of legacy systems;
  15. Leading problem analysis for in-service legacy systems;
  16. Conducting trade-off analyses to identify optimal solutions for enhancing performance or resolving issues;
  17. Contributing to the roadmap for legacy communication systems;

Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience with various legacy communication protocols;
  • Strong background in Ethernet or ideally AFDX technology;
  • Comprehensive understanding of aeronautical considerations such as safety, reliability, customer value, and certification standards (e.g., ARP4754, ARP5761, DO178, DO254, DO160);
  • Proficient modeling skills;
  • Excellent analytical and synthesis capabilities;
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and leadership skills, essential for interfacing with diverse stakeholders;
  • Proficiency in both French and English is required.

Compensation:

The salary range for this position is between 55K and 65K per year, inclusive of a performance-based variable component. This information is provided as a guideline.
