We are currently looking for a dedicated and results-oriented professional to join our Scent division as a Scent Design Leader within the Fine Fragrance sector. Join us at IFF, where the realms of science and artistry converge to develop essential solutions for a sustainable future.
As a Scent Design Leader, you will excel in executing customer strategies while demonstrating expertise in IFF's capabilities. You will collaborate with global teams to co-create innovative features that address the needs of our clients.
The successful candidate will report directly to the Scent Design Group Director and will work closely with various stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee Go-To-Market initiatives and implement cutting-edge fragrance development strategies.
- Align market, customer, and consumer insights to identify, develop, and recommend competitive product solutions that drive business success.
- Work alongside multidisciplinary teams (including perfumers, technical experts, and marketing) to identify challenges and opportunities, developing new fragrance solutions and capabilities.
- Formulate creative strategies in accordance with Holistic Scent Design principles.
- Develop a Consumer Insights strategy to determine essential learnings from consumers, gaining a competitive edge and creating impactful consumer-relevant solutions.
- Guide the execution of the olfactory strategy by providing creative direction and olfactory insights to perfumers, fostering creative exploration and differentiation.
- Actively listen to customer feedback and consistently exceed expectations.
- Conduct thorough client needs analysis.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders, earning their trust and respect.
- Communicate market developments and competitive insights, sharing knowledge across the organization.
Job Requirements
Essential Skills:
- Exceptional olfactory communication skills that enhance the overall creative process – ability to discriminate, describe (association), and recall odors.
- Proficient in identifying potential fragrance or technology solutions based on market relevance.
- Strong understanding of market trends and consumer behaviors/preferences.
- Knowledge of fragrance ingredients and technology to facilitate communication with technical teams and perfumers.
- Basic technical knowledge of Fine Fragrance formulations and the ability to assess stability risks.
- Strong project management capabilities, with a disciplined and process-oriented approach.
- Open-mindedness, agility, and the courage to innovate.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and perform under pressure.
- Commercially minded with a focus on bottom-line results.
- A collaborative team player who can inspire others towards a shared goal.
- Excellent influencing skills across all organizational levels.
- Proficiency in both French and English.
Required Experience:
- A Master's or Bachelor's degree in Perfumery, Science, Chemistry, Consumer Science, Product Research, or a related field.
- A minimum of 12 years of experience in fragrance evaluation.
