About the Role
The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) is seeking a highly skilled Research Analyst to join its Director General's Office. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for preparing communications and outreach materials for the Director General, as well as conducting analyses related to food security, nutrition, food systems, agricultural and rural development, poverty reduction, and environmental issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare presentations, speeches, blog posts, op-eds, commentaries, and social media posts to effectively communicate research findings and policy recommendations.
- Conduct in-depth research and analysis on a variety of topics related to key development outcomes, including food security, nutrition, poverty alleviation, environmental sustainability, equality, and resilience.
- Draft research papers, reports, policy briefs, journal articles, brochures, and internal reports to disseminate research findings and inform policy decisions.
- Conduct literature reviews and syntheses to identify best practices and emerging trends in the field.
- Develop and maintain databases to track and analyze data related to food security, nutrition, and poverty.
- Collaborate with the Director General and other team members to develop and implement research projects and policy initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Economics, Economics, International Development, Public Policy, or a closely related field, plus two years of relevant experience, or Master's degree in the same fields plus three years of relevant post-Master's work experience.
- Strong knowledge of issues related to global food security and nutrition, food systems, the environment, gender, and poverty alleviation.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct research and strong analytical skills.
- Excellent writing and communication skills, including the ability to translate technical materials for lay audiences.
- Outstanding visual presentation skills.
- Ability to multi-task and consistently meet deadlines with minimal prompting.
- Ability to be proactive and self-motivated.
- Professional level of attention to detail and accuracy of work.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team-oriented multi-cultural environment.
- Demonstrated fluency in written and spoken English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong background in development economics and applied economics.
- Experience with infographics.
