Supply Chain Specialist: Insurance and Logistics

Job SummaryWe are seeking a proactive, organized, and customer-service-oriented professional for the position of Supply Chain Specialist: Insurance and Logistics to join our Buyers Unit.
Key Responsibilities:- Source qualified providers for assigned goods and services both locally and internationally, including furniture, office equipment, risk management requirements, and local/international logistics.
- Identify, propose, and develop new providers to facilitate CIMMYT's operating requirements.
- Execute bidding/tender processes for competitive vendor selection.
- Maintain effective communication and collaboration with internal clients, suppliers, and partner units to ensure efficient procurement process completion.
- Negotiate best terms possible with suppliers on all procurement transactions.
- Request documents for purchase agreement execution and vendor registration/onboarding from suppliers.
- Create purchase orders in the Institutional ERP system based on fully approved purchase requisitions.
- Support monthly and annual PO closing in the institutional ERP.
- Follow up delivery of ordered goods and services with assigned suppliers.
- Coordinate imports with IMPEX specialist to ensure compliant, effective, and accelerated import process.
- Instill service-oriented mindset with efficacy and efficiency in procurement operations.
- Support periodic vendor evaluation and due diligence processes.
- Bachelor's degree in International Trade, Business Administration, Finance, or Logistics.
- At least 3 years of experience in similar roles or positions.
- Advanced level in MS Office.
- Advanced English language proficiency (written and conversational).
- Competencies: Organization, Critical thinking, Teamwork, Client Orientation, Problem Solving decision making, Negotiation and Conflict resolution.
- Knowledge of insurance matters is an advantage.
