Role Summary:

The Commercial Cost Manager will play a critical role in driving best cost for medium to high-profile clients, leveraging market-level industry expertise and a deep understanding of the competitive telecommunications market. This position will operate within the Supplier Management department, responsible for the life cycle management of vendor agreements and supplier relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Review Telecom Access costing for a specific set of clients and/or opportunities to ensure optimal allocation and cost savings.
  2. Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to secure competitive quotes and negotiate favorable pricing.
  3. Collaborate with Sales, Sales Engineering, and Supplier Management teams to ensure seamless execution of vendor agreements and supplier relationships.
  4. Facilitate large bid reviews with suppliers to ensure GTT leads with competitive costing.
  5. Negotiate prices with suppliers to secure reductions and discounts on bundled deals.
  6. Focus on timeliness of tail quotes, accuracy of quote, and RFS dates, while balancing best tail price, delivery timescales, and supplier quality.
  7. Assist in maintaining a database of quotes provided to ensure accurate budgetary costs and track similar requests.
  8. Provide feedback to Sales and presales teams regarding project and technical details, as well as Carrier commercial matters.
  9. Assist with administrative requirements, including filing of historical data and producing reports on a timely manner.
  10. Escalate any issues with suppliers to the respective Supplier Manager as needed.
  11. Review large client renewal opportunities with recommendations to the Account Team.

Requirements:

  1. Ability to process large amounts of data, including prices, products, and technical details.
  2. Capability of local telecom market analysis and supplier costing comparison.
  3. 7+ years' experience in a quoting/pricing telecom role with proven experience in negotiating large deals.
  4. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  5. Self-motivated with good planning skills.
  6. Advanced PC skills with Windows applications, including Excel and Word.
  7. Strong document/database management skills.
  8. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently in an autonomous environment.
  9. Proven project management skills.

Desirable Experience/Qualifications:

  1. Desire to learn new material in a fast-paced environment.
  2. Knowledge of Local Access Network Technologies and Transport technologies (SDH, MPLS, Ethernet, xDSL, etc.).
  3. Knowledge of the relevant supplier markets, products, and technology.
