Position Title: Risk Management Specialist
Location: West Central Scotland
Role Overview
The Risk Management Specialist is accountable to the Programme Manager and plays a crucial role in overseeing projects that are in various stages of design, execution, and transition. As projects move towards implementation, the individual in this role will be expected to deliver expert risk management guidance and support to Project Managers, particularly in environments where construction activities are taking place on operational military sites.
This position involves facilitating the identification, management, and mitigation of risks and opportunities to ensure the successful execution of capital infrastructure initiatives. The Risk Management Specialist will provide essential risk management direction and support to project managers, enabling them to effectively lead, manage, and deliver projects while achieving desired outcomes.
A valid driving license and personal transportation are advantageous, as travel to designated site locations in West Central Scotland will be necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all facets of Programme Risk Management.
- Establish the strategic direction for managing Risks, Issues, and Assumptions within the Programme.
- Ensure consistency of Risks, Issues, and Assumptions information across all Projects within the Programme.
- Generate Programme risk analytics to support critical decision-making processes, including affordability, deliverability, approvals, and programme recovery strategies.
- Collaborate with Project Delivery Teams to develop Quantitative Schedule Risk Analysis (QSRA) models and integrate them with the Programme Master Schedule through Programme Network Risk Analysis.
- Possess the authority to produce programme risk data, implement changes to risk methodologies at the project level, engage with external organizations regarding risk, and initiate risk audits.
- Incorporate lessons learned into risk management practices to enhance systems and processes continuously.
Qualifications
Essential:
- Proven experience in delivering projects under NEC contracts in a Risk Management capacity.
- Experience in programme risk management within complex, live operational settings.
- Expertise in managing risk at the Programme level.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
- Experience in cost and schedule risk management.
- Development and implementation of QSRA and Quantitative Cost Risk Analysis (QCRA) models.
- A minimum of 5-7 years of risk management experience on significant infrastructure programmes or projects.
- Exceptional communication skills.
- Proficiency in risk analysis and modeling tools (e.g., @risk, Arisca, Primavera Risk Analyser).
Desirable:
- Training in collaborative behavior.
- Familiarity with risk database solutions, such as Enterprise Risk Manager.
- Knowledge of Primavera P6.
