We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Emergency Veterinary Assistant to join our fast-paced emergency department in Blaine, MN.
About the RoleAs an Emergency Veterinary Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to our patients and their owners. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
- Reporting patient signalment, problem list, and plan during nursing rounds.
- Understanding classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects, and appropriately monitoring therapeutic response.
- Administering medications via appropriate routes and duration.
- Performing phlebotomy.
- Performing physical exams; accurately counting heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate, and effort.
- Possessing a working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment and assisting with patients assigned ASA I or II classifications.
- Remaining current on CPR guidelines and demonstrating proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.
