Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled postdoctoral researcher to join our team at the Paris Observatory-PSL, as part of the GRAVITY+ consortium. The successful candidate will lead the systematic data analysis of VLTI/GRAVITY data concerning the Milky Way Galactic Center supermassive black hole Sgr A* and its surroundings.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement data reduction and interpretation codes for systematic effects
- Extend existing codes to include support for instrumental and statistical effects
- Re-reduce archival and incoming data in a systematic and coherent manner
- Detect additional stars in the data, if possible also in archival data
- Ensure the publication of the GRAFITY codes as free software
Requirements
- PhD in astrophysics or a related field
- Experience in data modeling, astrophysical modeling, and Bayesian statistics
- Proficiency in Python programming and task automation
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
What We Offer
The successful candidate will be appointed initially for two years, with possibility for a third year on the basis of satisfactory performance. Postdoctoral positions in France give access to full health insurance.
