About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Economist to join our team at Total Deutschland GmbH. As a key member of our Renewable Energy department, you will be responsible for leading economic and financial modeling of a macro-region, covering various types of renewable energy technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Economic and Financial Modeling: Develop and implement economic models to analyze the feasibility of renewable energy projects, including solar PV plants, onshore wind, offshore wind, and storage.
  • Long-Term Planning: Construct the economic part of the Long-Term Plan (PLT) for your macro-region, including data collection, economic valuation, levelized cost of energy (LCOE), financial statements, and accounting consolidation outputs.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Contribute to the budget exercise in close collaboration with the Finance team, ensuring accurate financial projections and risk assessment.
  • Team Leadership: Onboard and supervise junior members of the team, providing guidance and mentorship to ensure their professional growth and development.
  • Strategic Decision-Making: Identify optimization opportunities and risks in collaboration with Asset Management teams to support business objectives, and develop decision-making tools to inform strategic decisions.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in economics or finance
  • At least 5 years of experience in economy/finance/renewable energy sector
  • Fluent in English and French, with experience working in a multicultural/multi-site environment
  • Strong financial analysis and modeling skills, with a deep understanding of cash flows, IRR, NPV calculations
  • Proficiency in Excel and good scripting and programming skills (VBA a plus)
  • Strong presentation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate clearly in both oral and written forms
  • Ability to work autonomously and advance multiple work streams simultaneously
