The Gapas champions the self-determination of individuals with disabilities and advocates for tailored support solutions.
About the Establishment:
The GAPAS offers specialized services for children with disabilities in the Hauts-de-France region, organized under Sector 0-20. This sector serves children aged 0 to 20 years and includes:
- Three medico-social facilities (two motor education institutes and one medico-educational institute) providing both residential and day care services.
- Support services such as early medico-social action centers, family assistance and early education services, and programs for autonomy and schooling support.
- Adapted educational programs available in the Lille metropolitan area.
Sector 0-20 Overview:
- Supports nearly 400 children aged 0 to 20 years with disabilities.
- Operates within the Hauts-de-France region.
- Funded by the Hauts-de-France Regional Health Agency and the Departmental Council.
The Médico-Educational Institute 'La Pépinière' in Loos aids around a hundred children and young individuals aged 4 to 20 in enhancing their social skills related to visual impairments and associated challenges.
Role Responsibilities:
As a Mobility Instructor at Gapas, you will work closely with a Director and the healthcare team to foster the independence of visually impaired individuals with additional disabilities. Your primary objective will be to assist individuals in maximizing their visual capabilities or developing compensatory strategies. Your responsibilities will include:
- Facilitating sensory development.
- Teaching specific movements and behaviors.
- Providing guidance on assistive technologies.
- Adapting the physical environment to enhance accessibility.
- Training families and caregivers.
- Encouraging outdoor mobility to promote inclusion.
Essential Qualifications:
- Strong theoretical understanding of visual impairments.
- Practical knowledge of mobility techniques.
- Familiarity with accessibility standards for the visually impaired.
- Ability to adapt to diverse situations and disabilities.
- Expertise in specialized equipment and environmental modifications.
- Capacity to create multi-sensory experiences, demonstrate teaching abilities, and assist with spatial and temporal organization.
Candidate Profile:
Qualifications: ergotherapists, specialized educators, psychomotor therapists.
Must possess a Locomotion Instructor diploma.
Prior experience in relevant fields is beneficial, and a B driver's license is mandatory.
Position Details:
- Work schedule from Monday to Friday.
- Closed during school holidays, with no weekend shifts.
- Potential for work across multiple locations.
- Under Collective Bargaining Agreement 1966 with SEGUR bonus.
