The architect serves as a software development engineer with added responsibilities. He/she defines, drives, and maintains software architecture aligned with customer needs and the company's goals for a specific system or subsystem.
Your Main Responsibilities
Common Accountabilities:
- Possesses specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in their discipline or function. Provides expert guidance, fosters innovation, and formally trains groups of less experienced professionals.
- Maintains a comprehensive understanding of the environment to enhance efficiency, recommends solutions/best practices, and influences departmental strategy. Translates activity strategy into actionable plans, setting and monitoring targets for the team.
- Operates independently based on management directives. May coordinate functional teams or projects and serves as a resource for best practices and quality assurance.
Specific Accountabilities:
In addition to software development engineer responsibilities (user requirements definition, technical solution design and coding, testing, software solutions debugging), the architect:
- Is accountable for software architecture throughout the development lifecycle, considering system constraints and enterprise architecture strategic directions.
- Directs and coordinates software architecture studies within their functional area.
- Identifies opportunities for modeling, simulation, and prototyping.
- Provides insights on state-of-the-art software architecture, considering future developments.
- Communicates design concepts to development teams.
- Selects suitable design standards, methods, and tools.
- Contributes to the architect community, educates peers, explores options, and recommends advancements.
