Role Purpose:

As a Rust Developer within our foundational team, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining the core components that support our mobile and web applications. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including backend API, web frontend, and mobile developers, to ensure seamless integration and high performance across all client applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architectural Development: Spearhead the design and implementation of Rust libraries that will be utilized across both web and mobile platforms.
  • Cross-Platform Optimization: Guarantee compatibility and peak performance across diverse platforms, including web browsers and mobile devices.
  • Code Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough code reviews and provide constructive feedback to enhance code quality, maintainability, and performance.
  • Collaborative Integration: Partner with frontend and mobile developers to ensure seamless integration of libraries into Proton's applications.
  • Testing Frameworks: Develop and execute comprehensive testing strategies, including unit and integration tests.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation for libraries to assist other developers in understanding and utilizing the components.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years in professional software development, with a focus on Rust programming.
  • Rust Expertise: In-depth knowledge of Rust language features, including concurrency and ownership principles.
  • Development Background: Experience in creating libraries for both web and mobile applications.
  • Team Collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively in a team setting with excellent communication skills.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities and efficient troubleshooting skills.
  • Educational Background: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and other enterprise patterns.
  • Experience with web assembly technologies.
  • Understanding of cryptographic concepts, including key exchange and the distinctions between symmetric and asymmetric encryption.
  • Experience with Docker or similar containerization solutions.
