Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Legal to join our team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our legal strategy and ensuring we navigate the regulatory landscape.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Development of our legal strategy: Work closely with our founding team to develop and implement legal strategies aligned with Mistral AI's goals and objectives.
  2. Regulatory compliance & policy creation and implementation: Research, interpret, and advise on local, state, and federal laws and regulations relevant to our industry, ensuring full compliance.
  3. Contract negotiation & dispute resolution: Review, negotiate, and draft a range of contracts, including vendor agreements, partnership agreements, and client contracts.
  4. Corporate development: Participation in deal-making processes such as fundraising, M&A discussions, and strategic partnerships.
  5. Intellectual property protection, risk assessment and mitigation: Advise on and manage intellectual property matters, including trademarks, copyrights, and patents.
  6. Legal documentation: Establish and maintain a robust system for legal documentation, including contracts, policies, and compliance records.
  7. Team training and education: Provide legal training and awareness programs to our team, ensuring a strong understanding of legal obligations.
Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree
  • 5+ years of experience in a legal capacity in a startup or technology-driven environment or as a lawyer
  • High interest in and knowledge of AI-specific regulations and compliance requirements
  • Demonstrated expertise in contract negotiation and drafting
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Creative legal thinking in a field that strongly lacks jurisprudence
Preferred Qualifications
  • Admission to the bar in France
  • Prior experience in a startup or similar early-stage environment
