PhD Researcher in Magnetic Materials Characterization

The proposed PhD research aims to contribute to the use of spectrum measurements for the characterization of magnetic materials, particularly steels. The project involves analyzing and comparing accurate MBN measurements obtained from different microstructures using a dedicated setup with theoretical simulations based on tools developed by the host institute.
The research will focus on validating and fine-tuning the models, examining the classification of microstructures in universality classes, and studying the effect of microstructure on spectral features. Starting from well-known model materials, the study will then focus on industrial steel grades like interstitial-free and low-carbon steels.
The PhD thesis will be jointly directed and supervised by the French atomic and alternative energies commission (CEA) and the CEIT Technological Centre in Spain. The main part of the work will be hosted at the CEA research centre at Saclay, France, with regular stays at the CEIT institute in San Sebastian, Spain.

- English C1, French desirable.
- Basic programming knowledge (e.g. C, Python, Matlab).
The candidate is expected to have a solid understanding of electromagnetism and basic metallurgical notions, as well as familiarity with standard laboratory equipment. Knowledge of solid-state physics is beneficial but not compulsory.
