About the Role
CIP is seeking a highly skilled Biotech Consultant to join our team. As a Biotech Consultant, you will play a key role in the development and implementation of our biotechnology projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement molecular diagnostics for potato diseases.
- Characterize transgenic events using PCR, RTq-PCR, Southern blot, sequencing, and bioinformatics.
- Validate event-specific detection in the field.
- Perform bioassays using artificial infection of potato plants in biosafety glasshouses and other approved facilities.
- Conduct effector screening.
Deliverables
- Molecular diagnostics of potato diseases.
- Molecular characterization of transgenic events.
- Validation of event-specific detection in the field.
- Bioassays using artificial infection of potato plants.
- Effector screening.
- Report writing and submission.
Requirements
- BSc in Biology, Biotechnology, or a related field.
- Biology with a background in disease diagnostics.
- At least one year of experience in tissue culture, preferably with roots, tubers, or bananas.
- Advanced written and oral communication skills in English.
