Key Responsibilities

The position of International Marine & Navy Service Sales Director is integral to Johnson Controls' global strategy aimed at enhancing our Service growth initiatives. Reporting directly to the Head of Service Sales, you will spearhead a dedicated team of sales experts, focusing on expanding our service repair and maintenance portfolio. This role presents an opportunity to cultivate and develop the team as we achieve success in targeted markets. Your primary focus will be on acquiring new service contracts, increasing share-of-wallet, and cross-selling additional products and services to both new and existing clients.

Collaborating closely with our internal sales teams, you will take ownership of the service sales growth strategy, emphasizing direct sales efforts in key market segments.

Execution Strategy

You will be responsible for implementing Go-To-Market strategies across existing and emerging vertical markets (such as renewables) and utilizing enterprise tools and value-driven selling methodologies to achieve targeted growth.

By ensuring that strategies are effectively executed, you will extract key insights to continuously refine our sales approach for optimal success.

Additionally, you will promote the effective use of company systems, tools, pricing policies, and sales training processes.

Through diligent performance management, leveraging market and CRM data, you will blend field accompaniment with structured mentoring discussions to ensure continuous improvement within our field sales teams.

You will utilize the available frameworks, tools, and processes to ensure that coaching is tailored to meet the needs of every team member. Promoting JCI digital solutions and sustainability initiatives will be essential to generating and securing service contract opportunities and pipelines within your teams.

Although our GM&N sales team operates on a global scale, this role will specifically manage teams in various regions. As such, appropriate travel will be necessary to provide accurate support to our sales professionals.

As our organization evolves, depending on customer locations and specific opportunities in these markets, some degree of international travel may be required.

Candidate Profile

The team will focus on acquiring new service contracts; therefore, the Service Sales Director must possess experience in developing and leading high-performing teams. You should have a background in field sales and a comprehensive understanding of the intricacies of relationship selling, as well as expertise in planning, business development, opportunity identification, and pipeline management through both informal and formal interactions to meet channel objectives.

Demonstrating your commitment to team investment and a passion for coaching for success is essential.

In this role, you will provide guidance, set expectations, and ensure the team operates efficiently:

  • Adopt a proactive and results-oriented approach to sales, managing multiple forecasts and financial commitments to exceed sales targets.
  • Meet assigned sales targets and drive revenue growth.
  • Identify new opportunities to expand market share and collaborate with your teams to develop innovative go-to-market strategies.
  • Offer consistent leadership and supervision to the sales team.
  • Establish sales goals and targets for the team and monitor progress.
  • Evaluate team members' performance and coach for success.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of Sales Management experience with a proven track record, preferably within the Marine or offshore sector.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and financial communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational, administrative, and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • A passion for success and the ability to inspire others.
