Science and Technology Leader for Filtration and Life Sciences

Leads the development of Science and Technology (R&D) efforts for Imerys' Filtration and Life Sciences markets, aligning with the company's strategy for these markets, which include Agriculture, Animal Feed, Filtration, Water Treatment, Cat Litter, and Absorbents segments.
Key Responsibilities:
Develops necessary technologies and laboratory capabilities to support Imerys' Filtration and Life Sciences markets, including new products, new applications, and new services.
Participates in nurturing Imerys' relationships with customers, particularly in R&D, to drive business growth and innovation.
Defines the overall Science and Technology plan for Imerys' Filtration and Life Sciences markets, in collaboration with business leaders, and prioritizes technical work accordingly.
Works closely with the Filtration and Life Sciences market Vice President (and/or delegates) to:
Drive the technical development of new products and services for Imerys' Filtration and Life Sciences markets, focusing on short and medium-term projects.
Manage new product development (NPD) projects for Imerys' Filtration and Life Sciences markets, ensuring timely and successful project delivery.
Ensures tight coordination with Imerys' Operations and Filtration and Life Sciences markets teams (Commercial, Marketing, and Business teams, Technical Services) to drive business results.
Coordinates with other Imerys geographies (Americas, APAC) to avoid duplication and leverage knowledge, assets, and skills.
Leads the Filtration and Life Sciences Science and Technology team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Accountability:
Technology Accountability: ensures the efficient use of resources to deliver timely technology solutions.
Portfolio of R&D projects Co-Accountability with Business leaders for Filtration and Life Sciences: Portfolio vitality (number of gates passed and launches), alignment with market strategy, and NPD sales.
Laboratory safety and lab assets acquisition and maintenance.
Opex and Capex budget for Filtration and Life Sciences S&T labs and team members.
Team and people growth (including coaching and development plans of direct reports).
IP portfolio development and maintenance for Filtration and Life Sciences.
Resources/Team:
Solid line: managers or individual contributors from S&T functions assigned to the Filtration and Life Sciences S&T teams (Engineers or Technicians).
External stakeholders: customers, professional associations, scientific communities, universities, and external companies for subcontracting lab works.
Competencies and Experience:
Seasoned S&T (R&D) engineer or PhD with experience in technology and/or application development, intellectual property portfolio development, and strong interpersonal skills.
Experience managing scientists and technical teams, product development from idea to launch, and demonstrated capability to deliver results in a challenging environment.
Business acumen and extensive internal and external technical networks in polymer and rubber industries.
Ideal Background/Experience:
PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or Natural Sciences (Biology, Agronomy) with 5-10 years of work experience, including 5-10 years of leadership roles in R&D in industry related to filtration or life sciences.
Typical Profile:
S&T Senior Manager or R&D Director in Filtration and Life Sciences markets.
