Job Overview

Reporting directly to the Technical Director of the brand, you will play a pivotal role in defining, preparing, and customizing the tools utilized during the production phase on the Animation front.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define projects and enhancements to the current production pipeline (including Cinematics, Ingame Animation, Motion Capture, Ragdoll, Facial Animation, Rigging, etc.).
  • Develop or identify optimal tools and methodologies to streamline and enhance the workflow of Animators.
  • Optimize the animation architecture and graph for improved performance.
  • Provide daily support to the animation team, addressing technical challenges and assisting in decision-making to enhance ingame animation graphs.
  • Serve as the technical authority ensuring adherence to constraints established in collaboration with other departments (memory usage, FPS, across various platforms).
  • Create tools, methodologies, training materials, processes, and documentation regarding engine constraints for future reference.
  • Act as a liaison between the animation team and the Technical and Artistic departments, driving the pursuit of high-quality programming standards.
  • Regularly communicate technical constraints to the animation team to ensure alignment.
  • Be the primary technical contact for any animation-related technical issues.
  • Undertake additional related responsibilities as required.
Required Qualifications
  • Extensive experience as an Animation Technical Director, preferably within the video game sector.
  • Strong understanding of real-time animation systems and video game pipeline development.
  • Proficient in Motion Builder and/or Maya, with additional expertise in Motion Capture for both Body and Facial animations.
  • Solid knowledge of Python programming.
  • Familiarity with other Digital Content Creation tools (such as Maya, 3DS Max, Blender).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and embrace challenges.
  • Proficiency in English is essential for fulfilling your responsibilities (knowledge of French is advantageous).
  • Experience in Rigging and Ragdoll systems (Havok) is a plus.
