Job Title: Technical Director, Animation

Ubisoft Annecy is seeking a highly skilled Technical Director, Animation to join our team. As a key member of our animation team, you will be responsible for determining, preparing, and adapting the tools used during production on the Animation side.

Responsibilities:

  1. Define projects and improvements to the existing pipeline, including Cinematics, Ingame Animation, Motion Capture, Ragdoll, Facial, and Rig.
  2. Develop or find the best tools and methods to improve and facilitate the work of Animators.
  3. Optimize the animation graph and architecture.
  4. Support the animation team daily to solve technical problems and help them make decisions to optimize ingame animation graphs.
  5. Ensure the technical implementation of animation constraints established in partnership with other trades.
  6. Produce tools, methods, training, processes, and engine constraints documents for future reference.
  7. Coordinate and act as an interlocutor between the animation team and the Technical and artistic innovation motive.
  8. Communicate regularly the technical constraints to the animation team.
  9. Be the technical point of contact for technical problems related to animations.
Requirements:
  1. Solid experience as Animation Technical Director in the video game industry.
  2. Excellent knowledge of real-time animation systems and video games and/or pipeline development.
  3. Excellent knowledge of Motion Builder and/or Maya, plus ideally Motion Capture Body and Facial.
  4. Excellent knowledge of Python.
  5. Knowledge of another DCC (Maya, 3DS max, Blender).
  6. Ability to work in a team and take up challenges.
  7. Fluent English is essential to carry out your missions (French is a plus).
  8. Knowledge in Rigging / Ragdoll (Havok) is a plus.
