Job Title: Graduate Engineer
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Graduate Engineer to join our team at Inria. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a challenging project focused on evaluating and optimizing the resilience of power systems in the context of a massive insertion of renewable energies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement models and algorithms for complex systems involving cascading effects
- Evaluate models against real-life and synthetic data
- Collect and analyze data sets to assess the quality of models
- Write and implement models based on literature for variants of the problem
- Run computational experiments based on models and generated data
Requirements:
- Graduate degree or equivalent in a relevant field
- Strong background in operations research, C++, and Python
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Context: This engineer position is funded by the PowDev project (PEPR TASE).
Project Overview: The main objective of this project is to evaluate and optimize the resilience of power systems in the context of a massive insertion of renewable energies.
Tasks:
- Simulate, characterize, and analyze the scenario of a blackout in the case of a power system with massive renewable energy (PSMRE), including extreme weather events arising from climate change under present and future projections, realistic electrotechnical and field knowledge, inherent grid complexity including interactions with other critical infrastructures, economics, and societal impact models.
- Propose a quantitative and systemic framework to optimize the resilience of a PSMRE.
- Address possible remedial solutions in the design and operational phases to maximize the system's resilience against major blackouts.
Assignment: The recruited engineer will help produce models and algorithms for various variants of complex systems involving cascading effects and evaluate them against real-life and synthetic data.
Main Activities:
- Reading technical and scientific documentation
- Writing a report including a summary of the documentation
- Collecting data sets and implementing a pipeline for assessing the quality of the models
- Writing and implementing models based on the literature for variants of the problem
- Running computational experiments based on the models and the generated data
