We are seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to join our team at the Centre de Recherche en Neurosciences de Lyon - CRNL. The successful candidate will be working on a PhD thesis project focused on cellular neurobiology and epilepsy.
Project OverviewThe project aims to investigate the interplay between epilepsy-related respiratory dysfunction and arousal regulation. The PhD candidate will work on two rodent models of epilepsy: Scn1aRH/+ mice and rat model of temporal lobe epilepsy. The research will involve long-term cardio-respiratory recordings combined with EEG, in vivo multiunit recordings, and molecular neurobiology techniques.
Research TeamThe PhD candidate will be part of the Translational Group in Epilepsy Research (TIGER) at the CRNL. The team is led by Professor Sylvain RHEIMS and includes Dr. Laurent BEZIN, Dr. Hayet KOUCHI, and Dr. Jonathon SMITH.
RequirementsThe ideal candidate should have a strong background in neuroscience, neurobiology, or a related field. A Master's degree or equivalent is required. The candidate should also have excellent communication and teamwork skills.
What We OfferThe PhD position is funded by the ERANET-NEURON project and the ERC funded project EPIAROUSAL. The successful candidate will receive a 3-year contract with a salary of 1687 €/month. The PhD candidate will also have access to state-of-the-art research facilities and a dynamic research environment.
