Position Overview
Note: We are currently not sponsoring visas; applicants must possess a valid work permit for France.
We are seeking an entry-level Data Center Technician to assist with both company-specific servers and those located at customer data centers. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical skills, including hardware, IT, and cabling management, along with strong analytical abilities, meticulous attention to detail, self-motivation, and a positive, humble, results-oriented mindset. Technicians will also be expected to provide constructive feedback, document both technical and non-technical processes, and contribute to our knowledge repository, which may include KB articles, SOPs, and lessons learned. Additionally, the technician will engage with both internal and external stakeholders, leading and driving assigned initiatives to completion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, stage, set up, and execute startups and shutdowns (e.g., racks, hard drives, switches) following specific instructions via checklists, guides, standard protocols, and emails; assist and guide fellow technicians in completing complex tasks.
- Conduct diagnostics and troubleshooting in accordance with standard procedures, swiftly identifying the root causes of issues while minimizing disruption to customers and business operations.
- Adhere to procedures for communicating, reporting, and escalating incidents to the appropriate shift leads.
- Participate in daily safety briefings, complete necessary safety training, and comply with safety protocols (e.g., equipment usage, lifting, electrical hazards, ladder/rolling stair use).
- Foster a positive and effective team environment by sharing information, contributing to regular team meetings, asking questions, and staying informed about the status of colleagues' work.
- Proactively share relevant information to facilitate efficient workflows and mitigate the impact of changes in their work area on others.
- Comply with Data Center Services (DCS) business unit policies, procedures, and deadlines.
- Efficiently complete assigned tickets in alignment with expectations for Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) per task type while meeting or exceeding established Service Level Agreements (SLAs), with guidance from senior technicians.
- Demonstrate pride and accountability for service quality, completeness, and the resulting user experience; exhibit ownership of the data center facilities.
- Gain an understanding of the client's business and maintain a strong client focus to appreciate the impact of their work when completing tickets and assigned tasks.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Qualifications:
- 1-2+ years of experience as a data center technician or knowledge of computer or server hardware with an understanding of component and system failures.
- Experience administering software tools (e.g., diagnostics, tests, firmware updates) and real-time issue resolution during deployment execution.
- High school diploma required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs independently or more with assistance.
- Capability to work autonomously or collaboratively, including with remote teams.
