Signal Processing Engineer for Military Drone Communications

Overview
Safran Electronics & Defense is seeking a highly skilled Signal Processing Engineer to contribute to our cutting-edge Product Drone Project Team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in designing innovative data link methods within the realm of military aeronautical communications.
Your primary focus will be on developing and integrating real-time signal processing algorithms for radio modems deployed on embedded targets.
Responsibilities
- Design sophisticated signal processing algorithms encompassing both physical and link layers, implementing them in software and FPGA environments.
- Optimize the computational power required by algorithms to ensure efficient resource utilization.
- Guarantee that algorithm performance aligns with predefined physical layer link budgets for optimal communication reliability.
- Seamlessly integrate algorithms onto FPGA and processor platforms, meticulously considering embedded constraints, real-time aspects, and the complexities of radio propagation.
Requirements
We are looking for a candidate with a strong academic background in engineering, specializing in signal processing. You should possess extensive experience in the field of radiocommunications, including proficiency in simulations using tools like Matlab and SIMULINK. Furthermore, your expertise should extend to developing FPGA and/or real-time software (C, C++, etc.) tailored for embedded systems.
A comprehensive understanding of hardware development and protocol layers is essential, as you will be collaborating within a multi-disciplinary co-engineering team where teamwork and communication are paramount. Familiarity with digital communications, radio waveforms, RF electronics, digital signal processing, and both analog/digital RF principles is required. Proficiency in system engineering tools like DOORS is highly beneficial.
