Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Resources Generalist to join our team at Hyatt Hotels Corporation. As a key member of our HR department, you will be responsible for providing support and supervision to various functional areas, including recruitment and employment, compensation, employee relations, health and safety, wellness and benefit programs, team member services, and special projects.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage the administration, communication, and reporting of our hotel's benefits program.
  2. Supervise the recruiting, selection, and placement activities for non-exempt personnel, initiate and maintain relationships with outside sources, such as Union Hiring Hall, colleges, student associations, employment agencies, recruiters, etc.
  3. Submit weekly schedules to the Union and ensure Union Dues are paid accurately and timely.
  4. Submit required monthly reports to the Union and ensure data accuracy.
  5. Process requests for employment verification, unemployment claims, and Worker's Compensation claims.
  6. Monitor, communicate, and process all merit reviews and Status Change Forms relating to increases and review with Human Resources Director.
  7. Update and be responsible for creating and implementing internal communications.
  8. Ensure that all necessary Human Resources paperwork and documentation is forwarded to all appropriate hotel departments in a timely manner.
  9. Provide project support through development and execution of key processes, events, and initiatives.
  10. Assist in the planning, development, evaluation, implementation, and administration of human resources programs, policies, and procedures and their dissemination through the Human Resources policy manual, team member handbook, presentations, meetings, and other delivery methods.
  11. Responsible for overseeing the compliance, monitoring, and maintenance of I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification records.
  12. Assist in the maintenance of affirmative action program; files EEO-1 report annually; maintains other records, reports, and logs to conform to EEO regulations.
  13. Ensure that all new hire paperwork is completed, including background, references, drug testing, I-9, and other documents required by hotel policy or law.
  14. Ensure that all separation paperwork is completed, including unemployment notices and separation checklists.
  15. Assist Human Resources Director and Area Director of Human Resources to ensure that team member relations activities happen on a regular basis (i.e., birthday, holiday events, Colleague of the month and Leader of the Quarter, etc.).
  16. Assist in the development and coordination of colleague recognition, safety & well-being.
  17. Assist Team Members with HRIS self-service application, travel discount program, and other similar tasks.
  18. Prepare reports in conformance with legislated requirements or organization needs.
  19. Perform day-to-day HR office-related tasks, such as answering telephones, sending/responding to emails, scanning documents, sending/receiving fax documents, filing, printing name tags and ID cards, ordering business cards, etc.
  20. Perform other related duties as required and assigned; required to attend all mandatory training sessions and meetings; regular attendance in compliance with company/Hotel policies and procedures.
  21. May be required to work varying schedules to reflect business needs of the hotel.
  22. Ability to perform Physical Requirements as explained below.
Requirements
  • General knowledge of employment laws and practices.
  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment, with proficiency in Excel, and the ability to learn HRIS system.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Superior verbal/written skills and presentation skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to balance multiple projects at one time and ability to prioritize.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a Union environment.
  • Luxury hotel experience.
Education

High School Diploma required. Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business or human resources certification preferred.

Experience

At least 3 years' experience in the administration of Human Resources programs such as engagement, recruitment, and leave of absence administration.
