Job Summary

GoPro, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Staff Software Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of our world-class video editing applications. As a key member of our software engineering team, you will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing core libraries for media decoding, encoding, file formats, and metadata.

About the Role

We are looking for a talented software engineer with expertise in cross-platform development, media processing, and codec APIs. You will work closely with our creative team to develop innovative solutions for video editing and media processing. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and maintaining core libraries for media decoding, encoding, and file formats
  • Researching and implementing new techniques for media processing and effects
  • Collaborating with the creative team to develop innovative solutions for video editing and media processing
  • Optimizing code for performance and efficiency

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Strong expertise in cross-platform development for Android, iOS, MacOS, and Windows
  • Experience with C and C++ programming languages
  • Knowledge of codec APIs such as Video Toolbox, MediaCodec, VAAPI, DXVA, and Media Foundation
  • Understanding of large architecture design and refactoring
  • Experience with build systems such as Meson, CMake, Make, and MSVC toolchain

Preferred Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Experience with GPU image processing and interoperability with codec APIs
  • Experience with 3D rendering APIs such as OpenGL, Metal, Vulkan, and Direct3D
  • Familiarity with open source projects such as FFmpeg
  • Experience with Python development
  • Experience with color management
  • Mathematical background
  • Media processing experience with sound, image, and video
