Job Title: Automotive Software Applications Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Automotive Software Applications Engineer to join our team at Qualcomm. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and debugging software applications for automotive systems.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge infotainment and digital cockpit technologies for the automotive industry. You will collaborate with our team of experts to develop software solutions that meet the needs of our customers and partners.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop software applications for automotive systems, including infotainment and digital cockpit technologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and debug software solutions.
  • Work with external customers to customize and launch their new products.
  • Develop and maintain software documentation and technical guides.
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure high-quality code is delivered.
Requirements:
  • 8+ years of experience in software applications engineering, embedded software development, or related work experience.
  • 5+ years of development or debugging experience with high-level operating systems (QNX, Linux, and Android).
  • Very solid experience with embedded software development, integration, and debugging.
  • Experience with C/C++ programming and modern scripting languages.
  • Generic understanding of the boot process and system architecture of ARM Cortex-A/X-based SoC systems, including topics like MMU/SMMU, virtualization, and ARM TrustZone.
  • Familiarity with multimedia concepts (audio, video, graphics, camera).
  • Excellent issue triage and debugging skills with complex system-level issues.
  • An intrinsic desire for systematic working and ability to deliver high-quality results in a stressful environment.
  • Good communication and excellent teamwork skills.
  • Being fearless and able to focus on technical topics in highly escalated situations.
  • Quick adaptability to work in new technologies.
  • Ability to take up project management responsibilities.
  • Good debugging capabilities and ability to understand problems in a larger picture.
  • Basic understanding of software development processes.
  • Ability to freely travel within Europe and North America on short notice.
  • Ability to lead/steer a small cross-functional team.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with automotive infotainment or ADAS projects.
  • Experience with manufacturing and testing of automotive systems.
  • Experience in using debugging tools such as JTAG, ftrace, or GDB.
  • Experience with serial peripherals like UART, SPI, I2C, PCIe on hardware and software aspects.
  • Experience with complex interfaces like USB, Ethernet, CSI, DSI, or HDMI.
  • Experience with storage peripherals like UFS, eMMC, or NVMe.
  • Deep understanding of the ARM architecture.
  • Experience with working with schematics and being able to do basic hardware reworks.
  • Exposure to secure boot and trusted operating systems concepts.
  • Multimedia application development.
  • Experience with the integration and optimization of camera sensors.
  • Experience with image optimization functions.
  • Experience with image signal processors.
  • Understanding of video compression algorithms.
  • Deep understanding of video encoder/decoder protocols like H.265.
