Positioning and Reporting
Under the guidance of the Deputy Director General (International Standards and Science) and the direct oversight of the Head of the Antimicrobial Resistance & Veterinary Products Department (AMR&VP).

Job Purpose
The World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) is engaged in a collaborative initiative with the Global Alliance for Livestock Veterinary Medicines (GALVmed) and the United Kingdom Veterinary Medicines Directorate (UK VMD) to enhance regulatory frameworks for veterinary medicines in Sub-Saharan Africa.
The Regulatory Project Coordinator will be accountable for evaluating a Regulatory Self-Assessment (SA) tool , created by the UK VMD, to ascertain its alignment with existing evaluation systems for veterinary medicinal products (including pharmaceuticals and vaccines). This role involves advising on the design and further development of the tool, ensuring it adheres to a One Health approach, with a view towards global implementation following review by WOAH's governing body.
Additionally, the coordinator will oversee the execution of WOAH's strategy for the registration of diagnostic kits, which includes exploring avenues for regulatory harmonization and assessing the criteria necessary for reliable registration, thereby enhancing accessibility for WOAH Members.

Key Responsibilities
Self-Assessment (SA) Tool:
– Conduct a thorough analysis of the SA tool's design and its compatibility with existing frameworks such as the PVS Pathway and WHO SA tool, in collaboration with relevant departments and agencies;
– Evaluate the effectiveness of the SA tool during its pilot phase in partnership with the UK VMD;
– Investigate regulatory environments in other regions to establish necessary specifications for global applicability of the SA tool;
– Assess the compatibility of the SA tool with WOAH's information systems and recommend necessary enhancements;
– Provide internal progress reports and strategic recommendations;
– Facilitate the presentation of the SA tool assessment to WOAH's governing body for consideration;
WOAH's Roadmap for Diagnostics:
– Develop and implement strategies for regulatory harmonization of diagnostic kits, fostering dialogue among national regulatory authorities and the private sector;
– Establish an expert group to:
* Assess the value of a registration system for diagnostic kits,
* Define minimum reliability criteria,
* Ensure alignment with WOAH Reference Laboratories & Collaborating Centers, including the development of training and guidance materials;
– Manage WOAH's register of diagnostic kits as necessary under the supervision of the Head of AMR & VP Department;
Throughout these responsibilities, the incumbent will:
– Represent WOAH in the Project Steering Committee, providing oversight and reporting to stakeholders;
– Manage all aspects of project delivery related to WOAH's commitments within the initiative;
– Contribute to WOAH's strategic objectives, including enhancing scientific expertise and optimizing cooperation with partners;
– Collaborate with the Biological Standards Commission (BSC) and the Aquatic Animal Health Standards Commission (AAHSC) on diagnostics;
– Undertake additional duties as assigned by senior management.

Required Qualifications
– Advanced degree in health sciences, public health, or a related field;
– Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in human and/or animal health sectors.

Technical Skills and Experience
– Strong background in regulatory environments (government, private sector, accreditation bodies);
– Exceptional project management capabilities (planning, monitoring, reporting, team facilitation);
– Proven experience in an international context;
– Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Interpersonal Skills and Experience
– Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to distill complex discussions into clear reports;
– Strong verbal and written communication skills in English;
– Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams;
– Organizational acumen, with the ability to prioritize and work under pressure;
– Operational thinking with a focus on achieving results;
– Experience in a multicultural environment;
– Self-driven with a commitment to quality outcomes.

Working Conditions
Type of contract: Fixed-term contract
Duration: 2 years renewable.
Salary: Competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, exempt from local income tax + annual performance bonus.
The role may require extended hours in a seated position at a computer and may involve international travel.
