The International Energy Agency (IEA) is seeking a highly skilled Statistics Team Lead to join its Energy Data Centre (EDC). As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for coordinating workstreams and providing support to the Head of Section and the Chief Statistician.
Main Responsibilities:- Provide technical support and guidance to junior staff across the portfolio of annual energy statistics.
- Contribute to the design and delivery of the workplan for data releases in the area of core energy statistics and balances.
- Supervise and train junior staff to ensure the development of their skills and knowledge.
- Organize and deliver training on energy statistics as required.
- Ensure that energy data and indicators are enhanced across all regions, with a focus on non-Member countries.
- Explore innovative methods to modernize and increase the robustness of energy data and indicators.
- Collaborate with analytical and policy teams to ensure core energy statistics and balances are well integrated into the Agency's work.
- Provide inputs to the development, modernization, and maintenance of the IT infrastructure used within the Section.
- Participate in preparations for and contribute to meetings of IEA standing committees, working parties, and other groups as required.
- Support the dissemination of relevant statistical outputs published on the IEA website.
- Maintain contacts with members of national delegations, other international organizations, representatives of industry, and other institutions.
- Promote the work of the Agency externally through organizing and participating in workshops and making presentations.
- Advanced university degree in a relevant field.
- At least five years of experience in energy data, preferably in an international context.
- Deep understanding of the energy sector and international recommendations on energy statistics.
- Demonstrated capability to plan and manage projects, supervise and train junior staff.
- Demonstrated ability to explore innovative options to deliver data and data-based analytical products.
- Demonstrated ability to improve data and indicators by using well-founded estimation methods.
- Experience with relevant coding languages, data visualization tools, and database management.
- Olympus of six core competencies, which will be assessed as part of this hiring process.
