Business Environment

The airline sector is undergoing a significant transformation in retailing to meet the evolving expectations of customers, which include efficiency in workflows, transparency in pricing, and personalized interactions through social networks.

In this context, the Order Management System (OMS) plays a crucial role in delivering the true value of this transformation. Our team is responsible for developing the Amadeus OMS.

Following the foundational production in 2020, our focus is now on preparing the product for airlines, ensuring it meets the essential goals of openness, simplicity, and agility. Our group operates within a full SAFe framework.

About the Role

As part of the OMS team, you will engage in an agile environment where you will design, develop, validate, and maintain core components of the OMS, including:

  • Core order management system for handling order data and lifecycle, storage, and fulfillment.
  • Integration with the NDC layer of the order suite through the RTL backend.
  • Collaboration with other suites necessary for managing our orders: offer suite, revenue accounting, payment, operations suite, etc.
  • Interaction with the PSS (Bimodal) to utilize all PSS capabilities for a seamless transition while introducing new functionalities via OMS.

To achieve these objectives, you will work with cutting-edge technologies and concepts, such as:

  • Backend Test Automation utilizing Robot Framework and Python.
  • Cloud-native applications built on ACS using Kubernetes and OpenShift.
  • Microfocus Octane for Test Management.
  • Validation of Open API with REST JSON over HTTPS.
  • A comprehensive CI/CD stack to ensure smooth code deployment and validation from development environments to actual end-to-end platforms.

Specific Responsibilities:

Test Automation & QA Tooling

  • Evaluate the need to automate a subset of (or all) test scripts.
  • Utilize the test automation framework and contribute to its enhancement, particularly with Robot Framework using Python.

Experience with version control tools (GIT), testing tools (Postman), and test management tools (Octane) is essential.

Test Strategy & Test Planning

  • Participate in specification and architecture reviews, providing feedback on potential impacts, risks, issues, or gaps based on experience.
  • Define the test strategy and plan, including test cases (both functional and non-functional), ensuring traceability with specifications and customer requirements.
  • Ensure compliance of the test strategy with CI/CD guidelines, Green IT guidelines, and all quality standards (SDL, STDL), as well as industry best practices (ISTQB).

Test Expertise

  • Design and write test cases and scripts.
  • Prepare test environments, test data, and execute test cases.
  • Provide sign-off (go/no-go) on tested features based on defined exit criteria.
  • Continuously assess the need to add, update, or remove test cases in existing regression and CI/CD pipelines as new product features are delivered.
  • Investigate PTRs, test fixes, and enhance test suites as part of maintenance activities.

Defect Management

  • Log defects for software or documentation, assigning appropriate severity levels and providing relevant information for resolution.
  • Verify defect fixes and provide go/no-go recommendations for production loads.

Reporting

  • Communicate test activities to the line organization, software developers, and product definition analysts.
  • Provide visibility on testing campaigns and milestones to all stakeholders.

Support

  • Mentor and support newcomers.
  • Offer guidance to QA Engineer peers based on experience.

Knowledge Sharing

  • Share expertise on specific topics (technical/functional) within the QA community and with other stakeholders.

Quality Assurance Ambassador

  • Take responsibility for the quality control of projects, products, or releases.
  • Promote quality assurance best practices within relevant teams and quality communities.

Technological Proficiency

  • Effectively utilize the QA tooling stack and frameworks, including Robot Framework for automation, GIT for version control, Octane for test management, and Postman for functional testing.
  • Proactively suggest improvements to existing tools or develop new ones.
  • Address any issues or changes that may impact the daily tasks of QA peers.

Continuous Improvement

  • Drive proposals to enhance current quality processes within a dynamic development lifecycle framework (SAFE).
  • Contribute to understanding, measuring, and reducing the environmental impact of tested applications and associated QA activities.

About the Ideal Candidate:

Education

  • University degree, engineering school graduation, or equivalent work experience.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years as a Quality Assurance Engineer.
  • Experience in automation testing.
  • ISTQB certification is highly regarded.
  • Background in the airline industry is advantageous.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Experience working within the SAFe (Scaled Agile) methodology.
