In this capacity, the Lead Specialist will leverage advanced technical acumen and problem-solving abilities to architect, develop, and deploy software modules for both on-premises and cloud environments.

This role emphasizes the provision of reusable components to various internal R&D teams, addressing common needs such as authentication, observability, and more. The Lead Specialist will actively collaborate with diverse teams across the organization and globally to facilitate the integration of libraries within their respective development ecosystems and support essential functionalities required for on-premises and cloud implementations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engages in planning, architecture, and research pertaining to on-premises and cloud implementations.
  • Constructs, packages, delivers, and maintains open-source and/or proprietary software components tailored for integration within a C/C++ development framework (e.g., libraries, utilities, command-line interfaces, etc.).
  • Enhances existing components to introduce new functionalities and develops an abstraction layer to simplify integration for other teams.
  • Provides examples, documentation, and technical assistance related to the software components.
  • Collaborates with software engineering teams to support and enhance CI/CD tools and pipelines, optimizing the delivery and integration of software components.
  • Operates independently with minimal oversight and may undertake planning and mentoring duties.
  • May oversee interns or co-op students but typically does not have direct reports.
  • Conducts complex development tasks that may necessitate extensive analysis and design.
  • Works collaboratively to ensure that team contributions exceed the sum of individual efforts.
  • Participates in scrum meetings, engaging constructively with colleagues and providing insightful feedback to support team objectives.
  • Proposes and implements innovative solutions, encouraging creative thinking and sharing ideas.

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with 5 years of industry experience; Master's degree with 3 years of experience; or PhD with 1 year of experience.
  • Proficiency in DevOps tools utilized for building and testing large software systems with numerous dependencies in the C/C++ ecosystem on both Windows and Linux platforms (e.g., Bazel, CMake, bash scripts, conan, Git).
  • Experience in delivering pipelines within environments such as GitHub and Azure DevOps.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Familiarity with programming languages such as C/C++, Rust, C#, and Python, including interoperability between Rust and C/C++.
  • Knowledge of OAuth2, OIDC, KeyCloak, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and Grafana.
  • Experience with command-line interfaces from AWS or Azure.
  • Certifications in relevant cloud technologies, such as AWS Certified Developer, Azure Developer Associate, or Google Cloud Certified.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot intricate issues.
  • Experience in delivering high-quality products within a large-scale commercial software development setting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a geographically dispersed team.
  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous testing methodologies.
