POSITION SUMMARY
The role involves ensuring the punctual and precise generation of monthly financial statements, consolidated reports, and statutory documentation for the shipping subsidiaries.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Overseeing the effective execution of financial protocols for subsidiaries in alignment with the core model, ensuring a clear delineation of roles and responsibilities among various stakeholders in regional offices, shared service centers, and local subsidiaries, in collaboration with Finance Transformation teams.
- Directing finance initiatives for the financial control team, ensuring seamless coordination between project leaders at headquarters and finance teams across the network.
- Partnering with the Internal Control Department to develop and implement necessary policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Establishing and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure efficiency in accounting processes.
- Leading the adoption of new technical accounting standards and providing training as required.
- Evaluating all significant accounting transactions to ensure compliance and accuracy.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in technical accounting or finance is essential.
- Experience in a similar role within an international corporation, such as CAC40 or SBF120 companies, is preferred. Background in a Big 4 audit firm, public company, and familiarity with SOX or equivalent guidelines is advantageous.
- A strategic, focused, and collaborative work approach is necessary.
- Demonstrated leadership and management capabilities, with the ability to guide teams across various organizations and geographies.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical issues into fundamental concepts. Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to inspire others to implement innovative solutions during significant transformation projects.
- Proficient relationship-building skills to foster effective working relationships with all finance departments, capable of navigating a matrixed organizational structure.
- Advanced knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and the ability to apply these principles to both new and existing transactions, along with a proven ability to document and support accounting conclusions.
