Alstom stands as the premier provider of comprehensive turnkey transportation systems, including metro, tramway, monorail, and automated people movers. These integrated systems typically involve the cohesive delivery of various components such as rolling stock, signaling, telecommunications, power supply, trackwork, depots, platform screen doors, and automatic fare collection systems.
To bolster our expansion in the turnkey systems sector, Alstom is in search of a System Engineering Manager (SEM) to join both our central organization and project locations.
In the context of turnkey projects and tenders, the SEM will oversee the system engineering studies, leading these critical analyses. This role requires interfacing with clients, partners, subsystems, and third parties regarding all aspects of the transport system's definition.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Direct the formulation of system specifications, including functional, architectural, transverse, and interface specifications.
- Secure acceptance of system specifications from customers and engineers.
- Collaborate with the Project Engineering Manager (PrEM) to organize engineering activities, including prioritization, scheduling, and deliverables.
- Generate system specifications and interface documents in collaboration with subsystem design teams.
- Monitor compliance with contractual requirements and ensure proper allocation to subsystems, obtaining necessary approvals from customers and engineers.
- Lead verification processes and demonstrate system performance through design methodologies.
- Assist subsystems in technical discussions with customers and engineers.
- Manage interface definitions with support from the Electrical & Mechanical interface manager.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in Engineering.
- Proficient understanding of railway systems, operational requirements, and available technologies.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering or technical roles within the railway sector, including at least 3 years in managerial positions on international turnkey projects.
- Expertise in System Engineering principles.
- Proficient in English and French, with strong knowledge of contractual language.
- Excellent coordination and communication skills.
- Ability to foster teamwork.
- Familiarity with system engineering methodologies, particularly Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
- Capacity to critically assess subsystem solutions for overall optimization.
