About the Role:
As part of our Hydrogen Business Line, we are seeking a highly skilled Material Scientist to join our R&D team in Seraing, Belgium. This position will be a key contributor to the development of innovative solutions for our pressurized alkaline electrolyzers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth studies on the mechanisms affecting the performance and operability of pressurized alkaline electrolyzers, with a focus on rings, seals, and electrodes' coating.
- Design and implement testing protocols to evaluate the effectiveness of new materials and technologies.
- Analyze and interpret testing data to inform the development of our electrolyzer technology.
- Collaborate with research organizations and suppliers to identify and develop new materials and technologies.
- Work closely with stack designers to ensure seamless integration of components within the stack.
Requirements:
- MSc/PhD in Material Sciences, Industrial Chemistry, Electrochemistry, or Chemistry.
- At least 3 years of professional experience in a similar role in a research center, academia, or industry.
- Excellent knowledge of new materials, including polymers, synthetic materials, ceramics, composites, and catalysts.
- Experience in designing and testing procedures for pressurized systems and data interpretation.
- Strong material characterization skills, including SEM, XPS, and mechanical tests.
- Knowledge of fluid mechanics is an asset.
- Hands-on lab skills are an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written command of English (French is an asset).
- Strong analytical, team player, problem-solving, and autonomous skills.
- Ability to define and stick to a planning, and work on several projects in parallel.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
