Contribute to the Development of Innovative Solutions
As a Material Scientist at John Cockerill, you will contribute to the development of innovative solutions in line with the product and technology roadmaps. Specifically, you will focus on the Materials pool, where you will make an impact on the core technology of our alkaline electrolyzers.
Key Responsibilities
- Study and optimize specific mechanisms occurring in pressurized alkaline electrolyzers that impact its performance and operability.
- Define testing protocols and analyze, interpret, and summarize testing data.
- Contribute to the development and protection of intellectual property.
- Be the effective contact point with research organizations and suppliers.
- Work proactively with stack designers to ensure proper and smooth integration of components within the stack.
Requirements
- MSc/PhD in material sciences, industrial chemistry, electrochemistry, or chemistry.
- At least 3 years of professional experience in a similar position in a research center, academia, or industry.
- Excellent knowledge of new materials and experience in designing and testing procedures for pressurized systems and data interpretation.
- Previous experience with fuel cells, electrolyzers, flow batteries, or electrochemical devices is an asset.
- Strong material characterization skills, including SEM, XPS, mechanical tests, etc.
- Knowledge in fluid mechanics is an asset.
- Hands-on lab skills is an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written command of English (French is an asset).
- Analytical, team player, problem-solver, hands-on, and autonomous.
- Ability to define and stick to a planning, and work on several projects in parallel.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
