Senior Software Engineer - Runtime Configuration

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our Runtime Configuration team at Datadog. As a key member of this team, you will play a critical role in expanding and scaling our configuration platform to meet the needs of our global cloud infrastructure.

In this position, you will design and implement high-performance client libraries, robust APIs, and global distribution mechanisms to ensure safe and reliable release tooling. You will work closely with engineering teams across Datadog to understand their configuration-related business needs and provide solutions.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will have the opportunity to mentor junior team members and interns, and contribute to the development of safe distribution mechanisms across our global Kubernetes infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with engineering teams to understand configuration-related business needs and provide solutions
  • Develop high-performance client libraries for our runtime configuration and feature flag platform
  • Integrate internal systems with our configuration platform
  • Build systems to safely distribute configuration across our global infrastructure
  • Mentor junior team members and interns
Requirements:
  • Experience with Java or Python programming languages
  • Familiarity with data structures and algorithms, and a knack for profiling and optimization
  • Good communication skills and experience gathering requirements from stakeholders
  • Ability to operate independently, methodically experiment, rapidly iterate, and have no fear of failure
