Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Instrumentation and Control Specialist to join our team at Saint-Gobain. As a key member of our International Technical Department, you will play a critical role in supporting the activities of our flat glass manufacturing plants worldwide.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage technical standards related to instrumentation and process control loops
  • Write and maintain standard specifications, data sheets, or P&IDs
  • Coordinate and ensure the evolution and improvements of technical standards based on evolving requirements
  • Support investment projects for float lines on instrumentation and control-regulation scope
  • Ensure correct application of Saint-Gobain standards in projects by project teams and suppliers
  • Participate in defining project scope based on technical audits and plant requirements
  • Participate in all technical purchasing phases, including specification writing, offer analysis, and technical alignment
  • Monitor commissioning of various systems and conduct functional tests on-site before production startup
  • Participate in tuning control loops and support production ramp-up
  • Coordinate resolution of snag points in projects and monitor system performance during production ramp-up
  • Consolidate project documentation and feedback, adapting technical standards, supplier portfolio, or methodology as needed
  • Provide support to running glass plants
  • Contribute to technical problem-solving in case of difficulties related to instrumentation or control loops
  • Conduct technical audits in factories
  • Contribute to purchasing processes and technical watch
  • Ensure technological watch on relevant equipment and measurement and regulation methods
  • Manage relations with certified instrumentation suppliers
  • Identify and validate potential new suppliers with the purchasing team
Requirements
  • Generalist Engineer or Engineer in Electronics/Instrumentation/Controls with years of experience in the Manufacturing Industry and field experience
  • Experience in an international and multicultural environment is appreciated
  • Fluent in spoken and written English is mandatory; French is highly appreciated, and Spanish or German is a plus
  • Knowledge in automation and controls/regulation, good understanding of supplier management, and ATEX regulation and associated instrumentation is appreciated
  • Ability to work efficiently in a multidisciplinary team, multicultural environment, and on several projects simultaneously
  • Synthetic mindset with ability to work on details when needed, autonomy, and ability to stand for DTI position with project teams
