We are collaborating with a commodity trading firm, part of a larger conglomerate, situated in London, aiming to establish a robust physical gas and power operation throughout the UK and Europe.
Key Responsibilities / Tasks
- Primarily concentrate on expanding and enhancing the renewable PPA off-take portfolio, including wind, offshore wind, solar, and more.
- Advance the flexibility capacity portfolio through various flexible assets such as thermal facilities, enhanced hydro storage, and battery storage solutions.
- Enhance the company's physical trading positions in both upstream and downstream markets with existing and prospective clients for structured gas and power offerings.
- Work in conjunction with the gas, power, and carbon trading divisions to introduce innovative structured products to clientele.
- Implement risk management strategies to bolster the new portfolio.
- This role reports directly to the Managing Director of Energy.
- Senior originator with extensive experience in cultivating new business within the power, gas, and PPA sectors.
- In-depth understanding of the renewable PPA landscape, including the associated risks of balancing/shaping and mitigation strategies for the portfolio.
- Proven experience in negotiating gas storage and transportation agreements.
- Exceptional commercial acumen, communication, and origination skills to foster new business opportunities and lead the internal development of the desk.
- Experience in designing product offerings in gas, power, and/or structured finance.
- Must be located in the UK or France, or be open to relocation.
