Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Geophysics Research Scientist to join our team at TOTAL Deutschland GmbH. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting research in seismic imaging and inversion for application to hydrocarbon exploration and production or CO2 storage monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop research ideas into practicable software prototypes and conduct studies to test/validate these by application to synthetic and real datasets.
- Transfer the technology to operational teams, in collaboration with their technology development and application team, including adequate documentation.
- Collaborate with other team members to optimize the implementation of the resulting concepts and tools.
- Make conference presentations and publish articles to enhance the Company's reputation in the professional and academic community.
Requirements
- Master's degree or PhD in Geophysics/Physics/Applied Maths involving numerical computation.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in geophysical research and development.
- Strong theoretical and/or practical background in one or more of the following: elastic, acoustic or electromagnetic wave modelling, seismic imaging, geophysical inversion, signal processing and numerical analysis.
- Familiar with the general principles of oil exploration, geophysics, wave propagation, seismic data processing, inverse theory, reservoir characterization and interpretation.
- Well-developed skills in scientific programming using Fortran, C or C++. Experience with HPC (parallel programming) and/or Python would be an advantage.
- Fluent in English, with working knowledge of French.
Location
The position will be located in Pau, France.
