Position Overview:
The InvEnt Research Center on Innovation & Entrepreneurship at emlyon business school, in collaboration with the Civic Life of Cities Lab (CLC) associated with the Stanford Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society, is seeking a dedicated and analytically skilled full-time Research Fellow to support our vibrant research initiatives in organizational sociology, social innovation, and urban studies.
Contract Details:
This is a full-time, fixed-term role for one year, with the possibility of extension for an additional year. It represents an exceptional opportunity for individuals aiming for a career in academia, particularly in sociology, organizational theory, management, or sustainability.
Location and Flexibility:
The position is based at emlyon business school, a mission-driven institution emphasizing sustainability, situated in a newly established campus in Lyon, France. While being present in Lyon throughout the contract period is preferred, the role allows for remote work and flexible scheduling to enhance collaboration with our international partners, along with a travel budget. The French temporary work contract (CDD) is eligible for visa sponsorship.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design and execution of research focused on the transformation of the nonprofit sector worldwide, particularly in major metropolitan areas.
- Conduct thorough literature reviews for academic papers and grant proposals.
- Manage data-related tasks, including supplementary data collection, data cleaning, and coding of interviews.
- Provide administrative support for the lab, which includes organizing monthly meetings and maintaining a data repository.
- Engage in additional tasks as assigned, with opportunities to develop individual research projects and co-author publications.
Candidate Profile:
- A completed undergraduate or master's degree by the start date, demonstrating a strong interest in social science research, including sociology, management, urban studies, political science, and economics.
- This position does not necessitate a PhD.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English is required; knowledge of French is not mandatory.
- A high degree of reliability and some experience in project and data management is essential.
- Exceptional organizational, analytical, and collaborative skills are necessary.
- Capability to engage in complex research activities and data analysis is expected. Familiarity with quantitative research tools such as Stata or R is appreciated but not essential.
