We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team and contribute to a project that aims to leverage machine learning techniques to detect local events in tokamak simulations.
Project OverviewThe project involves developing efficient statistical modeling tools for processing tokamak simulation outputs. The goal is to help identify anomalies or errors in the data, which can indicate problems with the HPC system or the underlying algorithms. This information can then be used to adjust the computations and ensure that the HPC system is running smoothly and efficiently. Additionally, statistical processing can be used to analyze the outputs and detect events of interest to select the right snapshots of the simulation to allow post-processing of the results.
Key Responsibilities- Read and analyze papers and state-of-the-art research in the field of machine learning and statistical modeling
- Benchmark existing algorithms and adapt them to the target scenario
- Program, run, and analyze simulation results
- Participate in team activities, including scientific meetings, seminars, and scientific presentations
- Strong mathematical background and knowledge of machine learning techniques
- Good programming skills in Python and experience with deep learning frameworks
- Proficiency in English and ability to communicate effectively in an international environment

- 7 weeks of annual leave and 10 extra days off due to RTT (statutory reduction in working hours)
