About the RoleWe are seeking a Senior R&D Data Scientist to join our R&D Team. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to the development of new climate models, focusing on making direct contributions to our company's strategy.
You will report directly to the R&D Manager on Natural Risks and collaborate with the underwriting and business teams to ensure our products meet our clients' needs.
Responsibilities- Conduct research on climate risks and machine learning methods
- Identify new and innovative ideas and test state-of-the-art methods based on recent research articles
- Collaborate with the underwriting and business teams to integrate our products into the underwriting process
- Propose model developments or features aligned with our company's strategy
- Take part in new product development or existing model enhancements, translating and combining multiple research ideas and solutions
- Lead the improvement and/or development of new models to enhance our understanding of climate risks
- Be a referent for junior R&D Data Scientists and provide guidance on technical modeling matters
- Give relevant technical advice to Underwriting for their daily activities and Innovation teams during product development
- Suggest improvements in software or infrastructure challenges
We are looking for a candidate with a scientific academic background, ideally with a Research-oriented Master's Degree or PhD in Meteorological studies, Physics, or Applied Mathematics.
With 5-10 years of experience in R&D (PhD included), you should have strong skills in Statistics, Applied mathematics, Physics, and Machine Learning methods.
A proven track record of significant individual contributor roles for solving complex problems and contributing to the design and development of models is essential.
Proficiency in Python is required, and fluency in English (written and verbal communication) is necessary. A good command of one additional language is valued.
