Cloud Infrastructure Engineer - Observability/Logging/Splunk
Business Context
As we transition to the public cloud, our logging framework is being redefined around Splunk, a premier solution for data collection and analysis from diverse sources.
Did you know that our applications generate an impressive volume of logs daily? This positions us as a leading customer of Splunk.
Logs are crucial for our internal stakeholders' investigations and reducing mean time to recovery. We seek your expertise to develop a cost-effective, automated, scalable, and resilient logging infrastructure utilizing the Splunk Kubernetes operator.
Our mission also encompasses log collection and deriving insights from logs in Splunk, making our logging journey to the cloud rich and multifaceted.
Your Key Responsibilities
Primary accountabilities include:
- Guiding Splunk users to maximize their utilization of the platform.
- Creating automation to oversee numerous Splunk clusters within Kubernetes.
- Administering and operating Splunk environments.
- Producing user and technical documentation.
- Developing and maintaining libraries (C++ or Java) and components for data interaction with Splunk.
- Designing tools and processes to enhance cost efficiency, performance, and user experience, ultimately delivering superior observability services.
Required Skills
- Passion for observability, logging, and Splunk.
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to engage in support activities.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and HELM.
- Experience with our logging frameworks/libraries and investigation practices is advantageous.
- Automation skills (Jenkins, ArgoCD); knowledge of Terraform and Ansible is a plus.
- Proficiency in Python or Go is beneficial.
- Experience with Splunk is a plus.
- Knowledge of MS Azure is a plus.
