Become a part of ONERA and influence the future

ONERA is a prominent entity in the fields of aeronautics and space research, employing a workforce of over 2100 individuals. Operating under the auspices of the Ministry of the Armed Forces, it manages a budget of 294 million euros, with a significant portion derived from research, study, and testing contracts. As a recognized state authority, ONERA is dedicated to preparing for future defense needs, tackling upcoming challenges in aeronautics and space, and enhancing the competitiveness of the aerospace sector. The organization excels in various disciplines and technologies within this domain. Its international recognition and numerous accolades reflect the expertise of its researchers, many of whom mentor doctoral candidates.

The Physics, Instrumentation, Environment, Space Department (DPHY) at ONERA is tasked with the design of cutting-edge instruments and the evaluation of diverse aerospace environments and their impacts on embedded systems. This department is engaged in the development of inertial instruments for applications in guidance-navigation, geodesy, and fundamental physics, alongside metrological characterization techniques for flows or plasmas, as well as plasma sources such as electric satellite thrusters. Additionally, the unit investigates lightning phenomena and their effects on aircraft, the influence of space environments on materials and electronic components, and issues related to electrostatic charge and satellite contamination.

The CMT research unit, specializing in 'Sensors and Micro/Nano Technologies' within DPHY, concentrates on high-performance micro-sensors tailored for aerospace applications. Responsibilities encompass the development of real-time signal processing strategies, the identification of functional components, modeling, and the implementation of architectures utilizing FPGA and analog electronics. You will be involved in the integration and characterization of prototypes, work on digital electronics for nanosatellite payloads, collaborate on research and development initiatives with partners, and may also engage in publishing and technology transfer activities. A background in engineering or a doctoral degree in electronics, experience with sensor electronics, and familiarity with AMD/XILINX tools are highly valued. Proficiency in analog electronics, signal processing methodologies, FPGA implementation, and programming languages such as VHDL, C/C++, and Python, along with strong English communication skills, are essential.

At ONERA, we embrace the strength of diversity within our teams, contributing to the advancement of aeronautics, defense, and space. Join us in shaping the future.
